Academic Excellence Program
Have Sum Fun Online, Year 9 Peer Mentors and Thank you
Throughout the term, our Year 8 Maths Extension students competed against students around Australia in a problem-solving competition, Have Sum Fun Online.
The competition consisted of many difficult Maths problem-solving questions that challenged the students and required them to work together in small groups. They had to be innovative and discover new ways to solve problems. It was an excellent experience for all students involved and encouraged them to develop their teamwork and communication skills.
Congratulations to the '4 Humans', Sharon Sony, Lilli Halse, Shania Mascarenhas and Holly Atkinson (Y, for achieving the top score for our school teams. I hope you enjoyed your prize (a canteen voucher).
Thank you to our Year 9 peer mentors for giving up their time to assist our Year 7 students at the Homework Help Club. Your help is invaluable and greatly appreciated.
As the Academic Excellence Program (AEP) wraps up for another year, I would like to extend my gratitude to all the students who dedicated themselves to this program. Your commitment has been commendable and I hope you found joy in the challenges and gained valuable insights along the way.
This term, our students were tasked with letting their creativity flow. Their project involved forming an advertising agency focused on promoting the AEP. The groups showcased exceptional creativity as they delved into creating slogans, stickers and clothing. Keep an eye out, as you might see some of their remarkable work in the future.
Looking ahead, I eagerly anticipate another dynamic year, witnessing our students further develop their confidence and problem-solving skills. For those interested in joining the AEP in 2024, keep an eye out for a Direqt Message early next year containing an expression of interest form.
I'd like to extend my appreciation to Mr Rod Dowling for his invaluable support and guidance in shaping the AEP. Best wishes as you embark on your next journey.
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a joyful holiday season!
