Welcome back to Term 2! We hope all families enjoyed a restful and refreshing break. It’s wonderful to see our students return with energy, enthusiasm, and a readiness to learn. This term promises to be a vibrant and engaging one, filled with exciting events and opportunities across the school.

Literacy

As writers, we have been writing holiday recounts. We have been exploring how to retell personal experiences in a clear and structured way and we are learning to identify the key features of a recount, including the use of past tense, sequencing events in chronological order, and including personal reflections.

Maths

As mathematicians, we have begun our unit on Fractions. We have focused on the following fractions: halves, thirds, quarters, fifths and tenths and have used a Fraction Wall to help us visualise and compare these fractions. We are developing our understanding of how a whole can be divided into equal parts.

Inquiry

As Inquirers, we have been learning about the significance of Anzac Day and why we commemorate it.  We have read the story Anzac Girl which inspired us to write our own letters home from the perspective of a soldier or nurse in World War 1.

We were also lucky enough to welcome a parent from our school community, Taylor Sabo, the father of Mia Sabo, to talk to us about Anzac Day and about his own experiences in the military. As communicators, we asked many questions about life as a soldier and Taylor answered all our questions in detail. We thank Taylor for volunteering his time to deliver an informative and interesting presentation to our students in year 2 and year 3.

Religion

As faith-filled people, we have been learning about the Resurrection story Road to Emmaus. We completed a Scripture Pyramid, which helped us unpack the meaning and message of this story. Road to Emmaus teaches us to see with new eyes, recognise Jesus in our lives, and share our experiences of faith with others.
