Deb Hanlen & Abbie Goddard

Located in the Library at the Holloway Road campus, the Careers Room is open every lunchtime. Students are welcome to come around and browse resources, ask questions, or book an interview with Deb Hanlen. Abbie Goddard has joined the Careers Department and will be working across Years 7-10.

The Careers Room and Library space

The careers area has restocked all of the resources including course booklets, career newsletters and bulletins. We are also regularly updating the noticeboard with career hints and tips. Make the time to check it out.

 

Year 12

This year VTAC is introducing a new portal to administer course applications and provide a range of informative, targeted resources for years 10 - 12. More information will be circulated as it becomes available. 

 

All Year 12 students will have a careers interview schedule with the careers team. They have been sent an email with links to valuable resources and how best to prepare for their careers interview. The interview time appears on their Compass dashboard

 

Important dates

Course applications open at 9am on Monday July 28th and timely applications close on Monday September 29th at 5 pm

 

SEAS applications open at 9am on Monday July 28th and timely applications close on Friday October 10th at 5 pm

 

The cost of a course application is $80 and must be paid before students can submit their course preferences and access SEAS.

 

Discover Monash Events 

Monash University will be hosting several Discover Monash events or activities over the coming weeks.  Unless specified online**, these will be face-to-face events.

Participating in one or more of these events will assist students in making informed choices about their study options after Year 12. Please refer to the Compass post for further details.

Discover Medicine Webinar – Monash University

Discover what it's like to study Medicine at Monash. Join us for an informative session where we'll discuss the course structure, placement opportunities and entry requirements.  Our current students will be online to provide insights into their own experiences as well.

Entry to Medicine in 2026 UCAT (University Clinical Aptitude Test) 

QUICK FACTS: 

• The UCAT (University Clinical Aptitude Test) is a 2-hour computer-based test 

• Registrations for the UCAT open on Tuesday 4 March 2025 and close on Friday 16 May 2025 

• The UCAT will be offered on a choice of dates from 1 July and 5 August 2025 

• Some pathways to medicine/dentistry/clinical sciences will not require the UCAT and some courses may require another test.

 

Year 11

Any Year 11 student who would like a careers interview please reach out over TEAMS or pop into the library. 

 

Year 10: Work experience for Year 10 students will run from Monday 16th to Friday 20th June. The work experience forms were due on Monday 3rd March. We will soon be contacting students and inviting them to attend a meeting during lunch or after school, where we will offer support and help find a suitable placement for them.

 

Year 10 students will attend the Careers Expo on Friday 2nd May at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. More details to come.

 

Year 9: The Morrisby Profiling for Year 9 students took place on Monday 3rd March. Following this, students will meet with a Morrisby-trained Careers Consultant for a 30-minute interview to discuss their results. The interviews will take place from Monday 5th May to Friday 9th May at the Holloway Rd Campus. 

 

Parents are welcome to attend these interviews.

 

The My Career Insights programme will assist students in discovering their strengths, developing their skills, and exploring potential career options. This is a unique opportunity to help students gain confidence and begin taking control of their future.

 

Year 7 and 8

Career classes will begin in Semester 2.
