🎶🎺 Year 7 Instrumental Trial Session 🎷🎵

 A Musical Adventure

Tuesday 18th February was a day full of music and fun for all Year 7 students at Sandringham College! Our students had the opportunity to explore a variety of brass and woodwind instruments during our Instrumental Trial Session. From the bold trumpets and trombones to the smooth flutes and saxophones, everyone had a chance to try their hand at making beautiful music.

This event was just the beginning of an exciting year ahead in our instrumental music program, with the Year 7 Beginner Band to kick off later in Term 1 and complete our ensemble program.

If your child showed an interest in joining the music program, we are still accepting enrolments for this year. Please get in contact with the Music Department via phone or email for any enrolment enquiries and we'll take care of the rest. 📄🎶

A quick reminder:

  • The annual costof Instrumental Musicis $825 (paid in two semester instalments).
  • Enrolling in instrumental music lessons is a year-long commitment.
  • All students learning an instrument are required to be part of an ensemble. This allows students to progress faster, provides performance opportunities and creates a culture of teamwork and support within the school.

Note: Balance is always a consideration when running an Instrumental and Ensemble Music program. This year, we're focusing on our orchestral program, and therefore guitar and piano lessons are only available for students to enrol in from Year 8 upwards. 🎸🎹

After a fantastic round of auditions, we are thrilled to announce the formation of Sandy’s very first competition A Cappella choir – The Sandy Songbirds.

With an incredible group of talented singers: Ingrid Bernhardsson, Natasha Bignell, Jay Bird, Miranda Ferrigno, Sienna Maguire, Sienna Parsons, Rhea Shenoy, Rachel Tusia, Pamela Welsh and Sophie Wong, this choir will perform a dynamic range of four-part harmonies, showcasing the unique abilities of each member. They’ll be representing Sandy in upcoming choir competitions, and we couldn’t be more excited about what’s to come!

In addition, we’re proud to have nearly 30 students in our whole school choir. Both choirs will be spreading joy through music at various school events throughout the year.

Rehearsals for both groups have already begun, and we can’t wait to see The Sandy Songbirds and the whole School Choir in action. Be sure to cheer them on as they take the stage and make their mark!

Let’s support our talented performers on this exciting musical journey!
