Humanities

Rasita Ramsaran

As we begin the school year, students across all year levels, including VCE, continue on their exciting journey in Humanities.

Years 7–9

Our economics curriculum explores key concepts ranging from supply and demand to market structures. The year 9 cohort have engaged in a practical component of economics through designing their own brand and products and promoting these through a video advertisement of their own creation. This term serves as a foundation for developing critical thinking skills and a deeper understanding of the world of economics.

Year 10 Criminal and Constitutional Law

Studying the processes and procedures of criminal law, including appeals, sanctions and exploring court case studies.

Year 10 Fight the Power

Enthused history students have been investigating the Vietnam War and key events that shaped this period. They connect their learning to the significance of 20th-century history while enhancing their written and analytical skills.

VCE

Business Management

Year 11 students are currently exploring fundamental business concepts, including types of businesses, management structures, and key business objectives.

Sociology

Our inquisitive Year 11 Sociology students have delved into the concept of youth and the experiences of different generations, exploring social factors such as gender and male masculinity.

The Year 12 Sociology class expanded their knowledge and awareness of the historical suppression of Australian Indigenous culture as evident through protection and segregation, and the assimilation policies, and Australian Indigenous responses to this suppression of culture, during their excursion to the Indigenous Cultural Centre at the Melbourne Museum.

The Humanities team would also like to proudly announce that Grisha Polukhin (Year 7, 2024) was the 2024 State Level National History Challenge Winner.

Thank you.
