What a fantastic start to the year we have had in Prep! Our students have settled beautifully into school life and are becoming increasingly confident with daily routines. It has been wonderful to see how quickly they have adapted to classroom expectations and developed positive learning habits.
We are so proud of how far the Preps have already come in their learning. In reading, students are building their confidence with letters, sounds, and early decoding skills. In writing, they are beginning to form letters and share their ideas on paper, and in maths, they are developing strong foundations in number recognition, counting, and problem-solving. Their growth in such a short time has been incredible!
We are currently focusing on blending sounds together to read words, which is an important step in becoming a fluent reader. It has been wonderful to see many students beginning to master this skill and grow in confidence when reading. You can support your child at home by reading together each night and encouraging them to practise sounding out and blending words. Regular practice, even for a short time each evening, makes a big difference and helps reinforce what we are learning at school.
A highlight of our week is spending time in the library with our Grade 5 buddies. The connections that have formed have been truly special, and our Preps look forward to this time each week. It has been wonderful to see the care, support, and friendships growing between the students.
Thank you to the many families who attended our Welcome Night. It was lovely to see so many of you there and to share in the excitement of the year ahead. The Photo Booth was a big hit, and we hope you enjoyed capturing those special moments with your children.
We are also very excited as we look ahead to our first excursion next term – more information will be shared soon!
We hope all of our families have a safe and hoppy Easter break. We look forward to seeing everyone back refreshed and ready for another exciting term of learning.
