We are pleased to inform you that our school will once again be partnering with Kids First to offer the Tuning into Kids program during Term 2.

Tuning into Kids is an evidence-based, emotion-focused parenting program designed to support parents and carers in helping children understand and manage their emotions. The program provides practical strategies to strengthen your relationship with your child, improve communication, and support positive behaviour.

The sessions will be delivered onsite at the school by trained facilitators from Kids First. The program is free of charge, and all sessions are held in a safe and confidential space, ensuring participants feel comfortable.

Session Dates (10:00am – 12:00pm):

  • Session 1: Wednesday 13th May
  • Session 2: Wednesday 20th May
  • Session 3: Wednesday 27th May
  • Session 4: Wednesday 3rd June
  • Session 5: Wednesday 10th June

KIDS HELPLINE

Students in Years 3–6 will be taking part in an exciting wellbeing initiative during Term 2, working in partnership with the Kids Helpline @ School Program. Through a series of engaging virtual classroom sessions, students will explore important topics that support their emotional wellbeing, safety, and relationships.

Throughout the program, students will participate in age-appropriate discussions and activities covering a range of key topics, including an introduction to Kids Helpline, bullying, coping with change, cyberbullying (Be the Change), developing resilience, friendship, understanding emotions, online safety, and their right to feel safe.

These sessions are designed to empower students with practical strategies, build confidence, and encourage help-seeking behaviours in a safe and supportive environment. We look forward to seeing our students develop valuable life skills through this meaningful program.

Our Life Skills cooking sessions with Mrs Hull have been a fantastic success, with students enthusiastically preparing a variety of meals in the Life Skills Hub. These hands-on sessions provide valuable opportunities for students to develop important everyday skills such as following instructions, measuring ingredients, working safely in the kitchen, and collaborating with others.

Cooking also supports confidence, independence, and decision-making, while encouraging students to explore healthy food choices. We have been especially impressed by the thoughtful input from our students—one standout moment was a student request to include more vegetables in our recipes!

It has been wonderful to see students so engaged, proud of their achievements, and eager to build their skills in the kitchen.
