It has been a very busy and creative second half of Term 1 in the Art Room! The Prep students have enthusiastically been learning Auslan colours while developing their fine motor skills through drawing, cutting, colouring, and pasting in each artwork they create. They particularly loved making caterpillars to celebrate The Very Hungry Caterpillar Day in March.
Year 1/2 students explored the technique of paper ripping collage while learning about the Winter Olympics and the colours of the Olympic Rings. They also enjoyed creating Incy Wincy Spider web crafts, continuing to build their fine motor skills through drawing, cutting, colouring, and threading.
Year 3/4 students explored the body shapes and movements of athletes during different Winter Olympic events, thoughtfully recreating these using materials such as cotton tips and experimenting with chalk to create vibrant backgrounds.
Year 5/6 students similarly explored the body shapes and movements of Winter Olympic athletes, recreating these using cotton tips and chalk for background effects. They further extended their understanding of movement and form by creating detailed foil sculptures of Winter Olympic athletes.
All students proudly contributed to a whole school Harmony Week display, representing themselves, their culture, and their personal identity by decorating a small cut-out figure. Students also enjoyed the opportunity to design and create their own personalised Easter bonnets in preparation for the parade on the last day of term.
A huge thank you also to the parents who assisted in putting together our house portrait displays from earlier in the year. We are so grateful for the time and effort you generously donated.
