Art & Technology

In the Art and Technology department late last year, students from across different year levels collaboratively worked on the memorial poles for our beautiful new Memorial garden. It has resulted in 3 spectacular abstractly painted forms that bring colour and form to what was once just a walkway. Now that the poles are installed our next exciting collaboration will be the sculptural forms to sit on top of them and the tables and seating that will be made by students at WHS.
This term it has been fantastic to welcome our new Year 7 students to Art and Design, Woodwork, Drama and Food Technology. As teachers, we are delighted with the levels of enthusiasm and student curiosity. It is great to see such a willingness of students to explore in the experiential learning that takes place in these subjects.
Our Year 8 students have also settled in well and are enjoying their learning across Visual Communication and Design, Woodwork, Film Production and Design, and Digital Technology. They are developing new skills, exploring creative ideas, and building confidence as they learn through hands-on and practical activities.
Our Year 9 and 10 students have jumped into their Art and Technology electives with real excitement. With a wide range of subjects to choose from, it’s fantastic to see students following their interests, trying new skills and creatively engaging in hands-on learning in their chosen classes.
Our VCE students in Art Creative Practice, Product Design and Technology, and Visual Communication and Design have settled in well and are now fully engaged in their folio development. They are actively researching, exploring ideas, and beginning to refine concepts as they build the foundation for their major works.
