Music Update

by Mr Thomas Williams, Instrumental Music Coordinator

This year has seen the Music Department continue to grow and thrive, with performances at VSMF, the Royal South Street Eisteddfod, as well as on-site and off-site performances with our ensembles. One highlight from this year has been the jazz night, celebrating the 95th Anniversary of the school. It was inspiring to see the combination of past and current students, and staff all play together. What was so wonderful to see was the combination of the generations of people involved with Box Hill High School’s Music Department all coming together to make wonderful music.

We have also seen our Units 3 & 4 class finish up the year with their final recitals, and farewell our Year 12s in our ensembles. We hope that they continue to play music throughout their lives, and remember to keep making music in their communities.

Looking towards 2026, we are looking forward to seeing continued growth with our current ensembles, welcoming a new junior concert band, as well as trialling chamber music for more experienced musicians in our department.

Have a merry Christmas and don’t forget to sing a Christmas carol!

Mr. Williams
