Book Week Celebration

Children’s Book Week 2025 is approaching with this year’s theme: Book an adventure

It invites young readers to embark on fantastical journeys, inspiring them to travel through the worlds that books can open up.

This year’s celebration will take place at HEPS in week 5 of Term 3 on Monday 18th August.

Dress Up Parade

Students are invited to dress up on the day as a character from their favourite book. We will all enjoy a parade from 9am on Monday 18th August, showcasing our outfits.

Author Visit

We are lucky to have author Sarah Speedie also joining us on the day. All students will participate in a 45-minute workshop with Sarah. She will share her knowledge includiwhere her ideas come from, story structure, sizzling starts, writing humour, the three act structure, and picture book creation - from an idea to a finished book on the shelf.

Writing Competition

To coincide with our Book Week celebrations, we will be conducting our writing competition with an adventure theme. All students are encouraged to participate by writing a narrative story with an adventure theme. Students could share a story of a journey through time, an underwater expedition, space exploration or survival on a deserted island.

Entries will need to be handed to your teacher by Friday 1st August.
