Visual Arts

This semester all students have been busy designing and creating their costumes for Production. They have had a lot of fun, put in tremendous effort and they all look absolutely wonderful. Many senior students have come into our lunch time art club to help with sets and prop making. Level six students have demonstrated a high level of teamwork, problem solving, leadership, growth and resilience while designing the sets and props and seeing them to fruition. A fantastic effort by all and a lot of glitter!

Level 1

Students have created a Mondrian inspired Australian animal. They used a stencil to trace the animal of their choice and filled the area with a grid in primary colours.

Level 3

Students are presently painting their traditional Greek vases. We are looking at traditional colours and patterns.

Level 5

Studentshave painted a background of concentric circles in different colours. They will print over this with black patterns to create a radial print. They only make the one 'plate' and need to rotate it 4 times to create the circle of repeated patterns.

Level 6

Students are painting their own mini masterpiece by choosing a well-known painting and focusing on one small area of it to enlarge and paint. This helps students focus on paint application, brush technique and colour mixing and matching.

Exploring Clay in Art

Foundation, Grade 2 and 4 have also been experimenting with clay in art. They have had a wonderful time playing with different tools and making pinch pots, fish and owls. Their creations were fired in the kiln, and they have been adding the finishing touches using paint.

Digital technologies: eSmart

Students from Foundation to Grade 4 have been provided with an opportunity to participate in an eSmart Storytime session ‘Bricks needs a break’. Students will begin exploring one of the 4C's of online safety risk: Compulsion.

Compulsion refers to the challenge of balancing our use of digital technology. Through fun and interactive activities, students will learn about the importance of developing healthy habits, managing screen time, and building self-regulation skills.

As part of the session, students will also reflect on how their bodies feel after spending too much time on screens. Some of these signs are tired eyes, sore necks and feeling restless.

Our goal is to support students using devices in a healthy and balanced way, encouraging them to enjoy a variety of screen-free activities that support their wellbeing.
