Level 2

As Term 2 comes to an end, we’re proud to reflect on the growth, creativity, and enthusiasm our Level 2 students have shown across all areas of learning. It has been a busy and productive term, and we’ve loved seeing the students challenge themselves, work together, and express their ideas in so many creative ways.

Reading

In Reading, we explored a wide variety of both fiction and non-fiction texts. Students developed their comprehension strategies and learned how to identify the author’s intention, thinking about why a text was written and what message or information the author wanted to share. They have also been building their ability to compare different types of texts and respond with their own thoughts, questions and ideas.

Writing

In Writing, our main focus was on narrative writing, where students wrote their very own fairy tales! They planned and crafted original stories that included clear characters, settings, problems, and solutions. We worked on building strong sentence structure, using interesting vocabulary, and “dressing up” sentences to make their writing more engaging. Students also revised and edited their stories just like real authors and proudly published their final pieces. We will continue to develop our creative writing skills for the rest of the term and explore fun websites such as Scholastic Story Starters to create more fun writing time.

Maths

In Maths, we learned about volume and mass, using both informal and formal units to measure and compare. More recently, we have moved on to fractions, where students are learning to identify and represent parts of a whole, such as halves, quarters and eighths. Through hands-on activities and visual models, they’ve been building a solid foundation in understanding fractions in real-world contexts.

Inquiry

In Inquiry, we wrapped up our unit on Equity. Students explored the concepts of right and wrong, why fairness matters, and how we can communicate our values and beliefs in respectful ways. They participated in rich class discussions and collaborated with peers to solve ethical dilemmas. For their final project, students chose a creative way to present what they had learned; some created puppet shows, others designed board games, made comics, or presented digital slideshows. It was inspiring to see each student’s unique voice and ideas come to life.
