Compass & Bronze Award Challenge Afternoon

What a fantastic afternoon was had by all involved!  The students were faced with some wilderness first aid scenarios. Each group took it in turns to treat a patient as best they could and use resources they would have in their packs or around them in the outdoors. It was great to see the students work together, being able to make stretchers out of sticks and tarps. Making a sling to treat a dislocation out of a backpack was another creation.

We also challenged our navigation skills to race around a 20-checkpoint orienteering course. The students raced around problem solving and organising which checkpoint to go for next.   All of our students achieved pleasing results throughout the afternoon.

Alongside the activities, we were able to present two members of the group with their Level 3 Compass Award; Grace M. and Elsie C. passed all sections of their Award with excellent results. Well done to everyone, we will have some more presentations very soon I’m sure!
