Voice of 8

Sports Day Reflection

On Friday July 25th, the students who selected Sport for their Voice of 8 activity began their day in H2, discussing the schedule and planning the activities. Teams were organised and the chosen sports were confirmed. Afterwards, everyone headed to the stadium to play dodgeball for the rest of the period.  We played five games of dodgeball, with my team winning three. As a fun challenge, everyone then played against Mr. King and Mr. Murphy, who managed to win despite being outnumbered. In the second period, we played basketball. The game was close in the first half, but my team pulled ahead in the second half, scoring the first 13 points and securing the win.  After recess, we returned to the stadium planning to play footy, but due to the weather, we switched to netball instead. It turned out to be an enjoyable game, though it was a one-sided win for the bib team.  The MVPs of the day were Ryder, Alex and Harry, who each received chocolate as a prize. Overall, it was a really fun and memorable day!

Music Day Reflection

On Friday July 25th, a group of students came together for a full day of music—ranging from learning their very first chords to playing in a full band! Before the music-making began, we organised ourselves into groups and planned what we wanted to achieve throughout the day.  For example, Bella and I decided to learn the intro of The Chain by Fleetwood Mac, while my friend Kim set an impressive goal and managed to learn twelve chords in just one day!  By the end of the day, when Year 8 reunited in the P.A.C., we had Brody on guitar, Dillon on bass and Ryan on drums performing together, while Paige Stanton gave a solo vocal performance without a backing track. Both performances were outstanding and showed how much we had learned in just one day.  Overall, it was an exciting and inspiring experience. We all had a blast discovering new skills, and hopefully next year the new Year 8's will enjoy the same fun and creativity we did!    Karlie
