Teach the Teacher – Session 2

Our Student Voice Team is making great progress in the Teach the Teacher program, supported by VicSRC. This initiative gives students the chance to share their perspectives on teaching and learning and to work in partnership with staff to improve our school.

Earlier this term, the team collected feedback from both students and staff through surveys. These surveys explored important areas such as how teacher attention is distributed in the classroom, the expectations placed on students and the consistency of our Whole School Approach. By gathering a wide range of voices, the team now has a strong evidence base to guide their planning.

In Session 2, the Student Voice Team worked closely with VicSRC to begin analysing this survey data. They identified themes and trends in the responses, comparing how student and staff perspectives align and where they differ. Using this information, the students have now started developing a professional learning session that will be presented to staff in the coming weeks.

This upcoming session is unique; it is designed by students, for teachers. The aim is to give staff an authentic insight into student experiences and to share strategies for building consistency, fairness and high expectations across our school.

The Student Voice Team has shown great commitment throughout the process. They are excited to continue shaping their professional learning session and are looking forward to the opportunity to “teach the teachers” by sharing their ideas and voices with the whole staff.
