Taking turns and Recognising the Contributions of Others

Our main focus for Term 3 in Group 1 is taking turns. Our enthusiastic learners have engaged in teacher-led plays where they could learn to wait for their turn and share. Visual supports such as the ‘wait’ visual are utilized to assist them in being able to wait for a turn. They have enjoyed the Happy Duck and the Dino Mountain games and would happily sit with peers, play the games together and tried their best to wait for their turn. It has been wonderful to see how everyone is making progress in waiting for their turn, listening and following instructions. They have become more aware and cooperative of sharing and waiting for their turn and its impact on a meaningful, respectful and fun play experiences. ‘Let’s Play’ station has kept its position of being a much-loved station where they can put into practice their taking turns and sharing skills.

Group 1 have also enjoyed this term’s theme on Feathers and Fur where we have group circle activities on animals with feathers and fur using animal toys. Another favourite is our Farm Animals and Their Sounds Interactive story time where they get to watch different farm animals and listen to the sound they make. It has been a great extension activity on learning about animals with feathers and furs. They have all done an amazing job being able to sit and listen for the stories and make guesses on what sound the animals make.
