Stage Band Opens for Festival

Wangaratta Jazz & Blues Fe

The Wangaratta High School Stage Band had the honour of opening this year’s Wangaratta Jazz and Blues Festival, delivering a vibrant 30-minute set that set the tone for an incredible weekend of music. Despite the heat, the band performed with enthusiasm and professionalism, showcasing their talent and passion for jazz in front of a supportive hometown crowd.

With the dulcet tones of Anthony Chisholm and the whimsy and colour of Lillian Wilson, both on vocals, the group captivated audiences with their musicianship, confidence, and energy. Standout moments included impressive solos from Amelia Harding, Noah Anderson, and Swaye Frankland, each bringing their own unique sound and flair to the stage.

A huge thank you to all the staff, families, and supporters who came along to cheer on our young musicians, it was a glorious weekend filled with music, connection, and community pride. Big thank you to Kev McGennan for capturing the occasion and special thanks also to Trevor Cooper and Ben Anderson for lending their experience and expertise on the day . Two seasoned pros whose support made all the difference.
