ALUMNI Program

đ©ș WHS Alumni Inspire Year 11 Students to Explore Health Careers
Â
Our Year 11 Health & Human Development students recently enjoyed an inspiring session with Wangaratta High School alumni who are now thriving in diverse health-related professions.
Â
Charlotte Mullens (Class of 2020), now a qualified Optometrist, described her role in diagnosing eye conditions during 30 to 45 minute consultations. She captivated students with stories of ocular emergencies, including the delicate task of removing metal fragments from patientsâ eyes.
Â
Lisa Gephart (Hill) (Class of 1998), a Clinical Nurse Consultant in the Acute Pain Service at Northeast Health Wangaratta, offered a glimpse into her fast-paced mornings in the operating theatre. She explained how she supports patients through post-operative pain, labour and other acute care scenarios.
Â
Christina Harris (Class of 1988), now an Occupational Therapist, and Jenna Aumann (Class of 2011), a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Emergency, also shared valuable insights into their career journeys, day-to-day responsibilities and the skills needed to succeed in these rewarding fields.
Â
Students were deeply engaged. Some even shared their own hospital experiences - kidney stones got a mention. Ouch!
