Musical Notes

Music Incursion day in the Fr James O'Doherty OP Performing Arts Theatre.

Musical Notes

Over the past fortnight we have had the opportunity to gather as a community and support the students in their learning and performances. Thank you to all of the Music and Drama students who participated in Open Day events; it was a wonderful showcase of our school.

Middle School Assembly

Congratulations to Daniel Heath, a Year 8 Student new to Blackfriars, who performed at the Middle School Assembly last week. Daniel was very brave to perform to his peers, Eugene’s Trick Bag by Steve Vai, well done Daniel.

Election Day

On Saturday 20 March, the Friends of Music hosted a fundraiser at our State Election polling booth. Thank you so much to all of the parents for their drink donations, assistance with set up, pack up, serving, cooking and in one case, even accompanying the band. Thank you to the Black Orleans – who performed on the day and provided a wonderful atmosphere for voters. A big thanks to the Canteen staff, Maintenance staff, Finance staff and Development Office staff for all of their assistance. A big thanks to my Dad, Joseph Reppucci who supported the day from start to finish.

Music Incursion Day

On Tuesday 20 March Stage Band 1, Stage Band 2 and the Senior Vocal Group participated in a Music Incursion Day. Students workshopped throughout the day to prepare for Generations in Jazz. At 2:00pm the students performed in a concert in the Performing Arts Centre for students and invited parents. A big thank you to our Music Staff: Mrs Libby Hunter, Miss Marie Wohling and Mrs Amelia Eagle for their assistance on the day as well as Charli Holoubek and Shane Wijeyeratne who conducted workshops. It was a very impressive performance and the day was approached with great enthusiasm.
