Primary Co-Curricular

Well done to our Catholic Schools Swimming team!

Primary Co-Curricular Report

The past fortnight has been very busy with the Primary Swimming Carnival, Catholic Schools Swimming, SAPSASA Swimming, the beginning of the Sporting Schools program in PE lessons and the regular weekend co-curricular program taking place. This weekend sees the final week of the Summer program for Term 1. It is important to finish off the term in the right manner by attending games and wearing the correct uniforms.

Over the weekend, the Friday night tennis matches got washed out after the heavy downpours late Friday afternoon.

The Primary cricketers took to the field on Saturday morning. The Year 6/7 team had a good win against Sacred Heart. Sam and Stefan were amongst the runs and Vinnie took a couple of wickets. The Year 3/4/5 team went down to Rostrevor. The boys bowled much better this game but struggled again to make enough runs.

This weekend all Primary teams are playing away. Please check the Co-Curricular tab on SEQTA for all maps. Your sons should also have a copy of the map with this week’s venues.

SAPSASA Swimming

Congratulations go to Ben Taylor, Jake Martin and Hugh Caton who were successful in gaining selection for the North Adelaide SAPSASA District Swim team. The three boys are competing in the state-wide carnival on Thursday 22 March at the SA Aquatic Centre. We wish the boys well at this carnival.

Catholic Schools Swimming

A team of 20 swimmers ventured to the Burnside Pool on Monday 19 March for Section 2 of the Catholic Schools Swimming Carnival. For many of the boys, it was their first venture to a swimming meet and their excitement was high.

The Blackfriars boys punched above their weight this year, finishing in 2nd position overall behind St Michael's College. The U13 age division won the Pennant as Age Champion School . Many of the boys received place ribbons and swam exceptionally well, some even securing personal best times throughout. Many thanks to the parent helpers and spectators on the day.

Primary Swimming Carnival

The Primary Swimming Carnival has been run and won by Spence (Gold).

The Swimming Carnival is a highly anticipated event in school calendar. There was a lot of colour, chanting and fierce but friendly competition, which highlighted how much the Primary students enjoy the day.

Many thanks go to the staff and parent helpers who contributed to the day. Thanks also go to the parents who came and supported the event. Finally, thanks go to the boys who were terrific in the way in which they participated, encouraged and competed on the day. It was a very successful event!
