MCKINNON STUDENTS REPRESENT VICTORIA IN NATIONAL INDOOR CRICKET CHAMPIONSHIPS

During the recent school holidays five McKinnon students represented Victoria as part of the National Indoor Cricket Championships held at Ipswich Queensland. All players represented their state with pride across the week. A fantastic achievement.

Under 14 Boys - Archer Hankin, Alex Bridges & Leith Salwathura

Under 16 Boys - Harish Salwathura All Australian 

Harish now has the opportunity to represent Australia at the World Championships later in September in Dubai. Good Luck Harish!

CAITLIN LYON RECEIVES FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP HONOUR ROLE

We are proud to announce that Caitlin Lyon in Year 12 has been selected as a Flag Bearer for the upcoming FIFA, Women’s World Cup match - Matildas V Canada to be held in Melbourne on Monday 31 July.

 

Caitlin has played soccer since Primary school and in 2019 was selected to play in the Victorian National Premier League (NPLW). Her team Bayside United were the 1st Women’s team to go through a season undefeated and won the both the final and the premiership.

 

Caitlin was named Top Goal Scorer in the NPLW that year.

 

In 2022 she completed her Football Victoria Referee Training and earlier this year, was invited to join The Football Victoria Referee Academy Program. This program offers pathways to officiate higher level games in the State League & National Premier League. 

 

Referees in the program are mentored by professional referees with experience at Olympic & World Cup Level. Caitlin was nominated by Football Victoria Referees Department for the prestigious role.

JAS CHILCO-BURNS TAKES TO THE BASKETBALL CIRCUIT

Over the King’s Birthday long weekend, Jas Chilco-Burns (Year 7) competed in the National Junior Classic with her representative basketball team, the Sandringham Sabres.  After a weekend of tough competition, the team came away with 5th in Australia.

 

Jas also represented Victoria in the Basketball Victoria Country-Metro Challenge in Bendigo over the June school holidays. Each day commenced with training run by the Basketball Victoria High Performance Coaches followed by matches. Jas and her team came away from the tournament undefeated.
