PERFORMING ARTS

Welcome back to the beginning of a new term and a new semester. Semester 2 is an incredibly busy time for all the Performing Arts students. At the bottom of this newsletter, you will find a list of all the dates for TERM 3 only. Please note that our main event for Term 3 will be the Winter Concert, which will be held at Robert Blackwood Hall at Monash University on Wednesday 30 August.

STAFFING CHANGES

We are sad to say goodbye to the lovely Lucy Angell, who will be leaving McKinnon Secondary College after the production of “The Wedding Singer” at the end of July. We will miss her amazing work within the Performing Arts faculty, particularly with the senior students in the VCE. We wish her well in her future endeavors.

We welcome Ellie Adler into the department, who will be taking on the Years 9, Years 10 and Years 11 Drama and Theatre classes. Many will know Ellie from her work with the Volleyball team, with the dance students and many other sporting teams. We also welcome Natalie Same who will be taking over the Unit 4 Theatre class.

We welcome back Theresa Ford, returning from maternity leave. She will be taking Years 8 and 9 Music classes at the East campus.

Sergei Golovko will be taking leave until early August, and we welcome Alexander Meagher in Percussion, who will be teaching at both Main and East campuses.

PERFORMANCES

Congratulations to all the vocal students who took part in the Vocal night on Tuesday 18 July in the Hall. The standard of performance from all the vocal students was outstanding - soloists, small groups and all the choirs, highly entertained the audience.

Thank you to the fantastic Audio and Visual team who helped the students look and sound fantastic. Thank you to Clare Bugeja, Paschal Lee and Katarina Vrisk for their support and attendance of the evening. A huge congratulations to our vocal teacher Blanka West who prepared all the students for performance.
