CAPTAIN'S CORNER

SENIOR CAPTAIN

Term two came to an end in true McKinnon style with Gigs on the Green, sausage sizzles, and some extremely intense games of house netball, with Gilmore taking home the flag.

All the Year 12s were excited about the well-deserved break, although they had one more thing to look forward to, Year 12 trivia night, and what a success it was. Four rounds, forty questions, and some very impressive dance moves as well as some amazing costumes were all part of the success of the night.

Ari Goldenberg was the best dancer of the night with some very impressive moves. The Injustice Brotherhood showed off their spectacular outfits, and Team Dads took home the chocolates of the trivial pursuit try hard (trivia winner).

All students enjoyed the “non-teaching period” over the holidays but on Monday 10 July everyone hit the ground running for their last ever first week of Term 3. On Wednesday 12 July the Year 12s sat their first practice English exam. The nerves were high in the morning but quickly settled as the writing started. With the Year 12s having only 10 weeks left of their high school journey it is time to crack down on some exam study. I look forward to a challenging yet rewarding term.

JUNIOR CAPTAIN

With only a week gone of Term 3, the East Campus is already bustling with activity. With the start of a new semester, our Year 9 students have begun their new electives with these electives varying from Musical Production to French, Art, and Journalism. As these students immerse themselves in their new elective subjects, not only are they able to enjoy themselves but they are also given insight about what subjects they find interesting. This will be extremely helpful since the Year 10 subject selection for 2024 will be coming up in the next couple of weeks.

Furthermore, Friday 14 July was Bastille Day, an important date on the French calendar. To celebrate this occasion, over at the East Campus there were many events running with the students given the opportunity to wear blue, red, or white accessories along with a photo booth being available to take pictures. Students lined up on level 2 to get their pictures taken with excitement. Everyone enjoyed this occasion and I thank all the students who participated in these events to help celebrate this important day and make it as memorable as it was.

The East Campus Gym has also been full of laughter and smiles as students from both Years 8 and 9 have been competing in lunchtime tournaments varying from basketball to scorpion football. It has been wonderful to watch everyone support each other whilst enjoying themselves. I cannot wait to watch the next round of lunchtime sports coming this term and our whole student community coming together.

I wish the best of luck to everyone for a successful Term 3 and I look forward to seeing what this term brings.
