INTERACT CLUB BAKE SALE

On Thursday 1 June, Interact Club volunteers helped set up eight tables ready for students to buy baked goods. It was a bright, sunny day with clear skies and to add to the vibe there was a Gigs on the Green group performing simultaneously. We stuck up lots of colourful signs near the MERC and the A1 stage.

At lunchtime, kids and teachers flocked to our tables. Some (mostly teachers) tried to con us into giving them free food. There was a variety of treats like brownies, red velvet cupcakes, honey joys, cookies and so much more. We had around fifteen volunteers behind the tables and a very long line of customers!

Although we had to compete with the Sausage Sizzle that was set up opposite to us, I reckon we beat them in how much we made because there are quite a few teachers out there with a sweet tooth!

Not everything was sold so the lucky students who helped out got to snack on a treat at the end. We had a very successful hour, with the grand total being $375.10 for the charity Children's Grounda First Nations not-for-profit organisation that aim to celebrate and uplift First Nations knowledge, creating equity and access to high quality education, health and economy in community for the next generation of children.

INTERACT CLUB SAUSAGE SIZZLE/ FUNDRAISER

On Thursday 18 May the Interact Club held a sausage sizzle event, and it came out to a resounding success, bringing together the school community for a good cause and providing a yummy treat for students and staff.

From the moment the grills were fired up to the last bite, the atmosphere was filled with delight as Interact Club members worked tirelessly to set up the outdoor venue, creating a vibrant ambiance.

The aroma of sizzling sausages enticed students, who eagerly waited for their sausage while helping to raise money for The White Helmets - a group who performs vital search and rescue support to Syrian civilians who have been the victims of not only government-led airstrikes, but also the deadly earthquake earlier this year.

The event showcased the incredible spirit of compassion and community within the school emphasising the profound strength of teamwork. The funds raised will aid the White Helmets in their vital humanitarian efforts, leaving a lasting impact on those in need.

You can see more about their impact on the Netflix documentary “The White Helmets”:

Keep an eye out for future Interact Club events and fundraisers coming in Semester 2!
