Dear Parents and carers,

Staff Formation Day – Walking in the Footsteps of Mary

Yesterday our staff enjoyed a meaningful day of faith, reflection and community, deepening our understanding of Catholic identity through the lives of St Francis and St Mary MacKillop.

Beginning with the prayer, “Make me a channel of your peace,” we reflected on the theological and cardinal virtues of faith, hope, love, prudence, justice, fortitude and temperance and considered how Mary lived these virtues throughout her life. Staff explored the virtues through the galleries before sharing their reflections and considering the virtues they themselves would like to strengthen.

We then turned to the letters of Mary MacKillop, discovering how her faith, courage, perseverance and trust in Providence empowered her through times of challenge. The day also included reflection on the Providence Bag and an opportunity to consider what we would place in our own “Providence Bag” as a reminder of the values and gifts that sustain us.

The afternoon concluded with the Mary MacKillop Walk, visiting significant sites connected with her life and reflecting on her legacy. Through prayer, conversation and shared reflection, the day provided a wonderful opportunity for our staff to deepen their faith, strengthen our shared Catholic identity and consider how the virtues of Mary and Mary MacKillop continue to inspire our work at St Fidelis School.

KEEPING OUR STUDENTS SAFE

A reminder to all families about the importance of following the road and parking regulations around our school, particularly in Saunders Street during busy drop off and pick up times.

The Drop off in Saunders Street has been established to help keep traffic moving and, most importantly, to ensure the safety of our children and families. We ask that all parents and carers please adhere to the signs and use the zone correctly.

Please remember:

  • Follow all Drop off  signs and instructions.
  • The Drop off zone is for quick drop off and pickup only.
  • Please do not park or leave your vehicle unattended in the zone.
  • Always check carefully for children and pedestrians before moving your vehicle.
  • Please be patient and considerate of other families and road users.
  • Follow the directions of staff who may be assisting during busy times.

Keeping our children safe is a shared responsibility. While we understand that drop off and pick up can be busy, following the designated arrangements helps ensure everyone can arrive and leave school safely.

Thank you for your cooperation, patience and support in helping us keep our school community safe.

Reminder: School Advisory Council Meeting

Just a reminder that the School Advisory Council meeting is tonight, Tuesday 25 August, at 7:00 pm in the Staff Room. We look forward to seeing you there!

Have a lovely week

Manuela
