Foundation News
It is hard to believe that we are beginning Week 7 of Term 3. The weeks are certainly going by very quickly! Last week we were very fortunate to have a dance class followed by an opportunity to share what we had learnt by performing for the whole school on Monday afternoon. Our teachers were very impressed with how we listened and gave the dance moves a go. We all really stepped out of our comfort zone to perform. Congratulations FOS and FLW!
We had time and opportunity to listen to speakers from Kid’s Helpline which reinforced what bullying is and what it isn’t. We participated in a great discussion sharing examples together. We then listened to the story “How to be a Bucket Filler”. Did you know that we can help fill our own and others' buckets by including others in our games, speaking nicely to our friends, parents and teachers and helping our friends when they are hurt. A bucket dipper does the opposite! Both Foundation classes have agreed to only be “Bucket Fillers”.
As writers, we have continued to write in our chicken journals each day, remembering to include capital letters, spaces and full stops. Our journals will be a great reminder of when the chicks from Henny Penny Hatching came to St Fidelis. We were sad to see the chicks leave on Friday morning while we were at Assembly.
We would love your continued support with number formation, particularly as we are noticing some number reversals, as well as practising our tricky words to build reading fluency and confidence with writing.
This week we will be learning about…
- Numeracy- Subtraction
- Reading- revision of letter sounds and digraphs ( ch, v, y, x, wh, th, oo, ng) stretching out words, blending the sounds together and reading tricky words
- Writing- writing recounts and information reports by recording different sounds we can hear in the words we want to write and using full stops
- Inquiry- What do living things need to survive? Also creating our Habitats

- Friday 4th September - Father’s Day Breakfast from 8:00 am
- Friday 4th September - Father’s Day Morning and Assembly 9 - 11 am
- Friday 18th Footy Colours Day - 1pm finish for end of Term
