Year 4 News
It has been another wonderful week of learning, connection and growth in 4ZK! From celebrating Book Week and making connections across our learning, to exploring coordinates in Mathematics and thinking about the impact of our actions through The Resilience Project, students have continued to show curiosity, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. We have also been very proud of their respectful participation in Class Mass. What a great week!
Our Year 4 students had the opportunity to showcase their creativity and confidence through the Dance Curriculum! In just one short lesson, students learnt an entire dance routine to an NSYNC song that was completely new to them. They then bravely performed the routine in front of the whole school!
It was fantastic to see students step outside their comfort zones, support one another, and give something new a go. Their enthusiasm, teamwork and confidence were wonderful to see, and they should be very proud of their performance!
As readers, students continued to engage enthusiastically with our Book Week books. We have been making interesting connections between the texts we are reading and our learning across the curriculum. While exploring Peculiar Parents, students made connections with our Inquiry learning about Earth and how everything in our world is connected. It has been wonderful to see students thinking deeply about the texts and making meaningful connections to their own learning.
As mathematicians, we will begin learning about location and coordinates. Students will develop their understanding of how coordinates can be used to describe and locate positions. We will continue to explore coordinates through hands-on activities and challenges, giving students opportunities to apply their knowledge and develop their confidence.
As part of our Resilience Project learning and Bullying No Way Week, students participated in a webinar based on this year's theme, “Small Acts. Big Impact.” Students explored a range of scenarios and revisited our Stop, Think and Choose strategy, considering how we can make positive choices in different situations.
Students also explored the idea of ripples and how small actions can create bigger impacts. We discussed how both positive and negative choices can affect the people around us and how small acts of kindness, empathy and inclusion can have a much bigger impact than we may realise.
A big well done to our 4ZK students for their wonderful participation in Class Mass last Thursday. The students did a fantastic job contributing to the Mass, and their readings were delivered confidently and thoughtfully. We were very proud of the way students represented our class and participated so respectfully throughout the celebration.
We are looking forward to another fun and engaging week of learning in 4ZK!
