Year 3 News

As members of a faith community, we are learning about Australia’s first saint Mary MacKillop. We explored her many great qualities and discussed how we can be more like her in our everyday lives.

As dancers, we engaged in a whole school dance program last week facilitated by ‘Dance Curriculum’. In the space of 40 minutes the year 3 students were taught a whole dance routine that was later performed in front of the whole school. We had so much fun showing our groovy moves!

As resilient learners, we celebrated National Bullying Week, by participating in an engaging session with Kids Helpline focused on understanding bullying, building positive relationships and knowing what to do if bullying occurs. Students explored different scenarios with the framework ‘Pause, Choose, Act’. Instead of instantly reacting, this strategy empowers you to take control of our behaviour.

Here’s a deeper look into the framework:

  1. Pause - Stop moving or speaking, Take deep breaths, Notice your feelings
  2. Choose - Brainstorm your options, Weigh the consequences, Pick the best path
  3. Act - Put your choice into action, Communicate respectfully, Keep it private

Animal Habitat Diorama – Materials Collection

In Week 8, students will begin creating an Animal Habitat Diorama as the final project for our Inquiry unit. From now until Week 6, we would appreciate families collecting clean, recyclable materials that students can use to build their dioramas. Helpful items include shoe boxes or small cardboard boxes, paper towel rolls, newspaper, string, cardboard scraps and other craft materials. Please also chat with your child about any additional materials they may need for their chosen habitat.

Thank you for your support. We look forward to seeing the students' creativity come to life!
