🏛️ Grade 6 Parliamentary Mock Debate
This week, our Grade 6 students stepped into the shoes of parliamentarians as they participated in an exciting Parliamentary Mock Debate!
Students explored how debates are conducted in Parliament, taking on different roles and learning about the processes involved in discussing and debating proposed laws. They had the opportunity to present arguments, listen carefully to opposing viewpoints and respond respectfully, while developing their confidence in public speaking and persuasive communication.
The experience provided a fantastic opportunity for students to put their learning about Australian democracy and government into action and gain a deeper understanding of how decisions are made in Parliament.
The mock debate was also excellent preparation for our upcoming Grade 6 excursion to Parliament House and the Shrine of Remembrance. We are looking forward to seeing students make connections between their classroom learning and the important institutions and history they will experience during the excursion.
Well done to our Grade 6 students for their enthusiasm, thoughtful contributions and willingness to get involved!
