To support our Friendology program at HEPS, we have 24 Grade 4 Friend-o-leaders currently in training.

Research shows that peer mentoring such as this one has a positive outcome for everyone involved:

  • Connectedness to school and peers
  • Feelings of competency and self-efficacy
  • Grades and academic achievement
  • Prosocial behaviour and attitudes

For mentors, there have been reported improvements in:

  • Connectedness to school
  • Self-esteem
  • Empathy and moral reasoning
  • Intrapersonal communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Relationships with parents

We look forward to seeing the great work they do over the coming months to support friendship, connection and gratitude across our school community.

    RUOK day

This year RUOK day is on Thursday 10th September.

The day provides a spotlight on mental health, checking in on your mates and if your struggling to reach out for help.

Students and Staff are encouraged to wear a touch of yellow. We wear yellow on RU OK? Day to symbolize hope, joy, and friendship, sending a visible message of care and support to those struggling with their mental health. The colour also helps to raise awareness for the R U OK? charity, encouraging conversations about mental health and breaking down stigma so people know they are not alone.
