Australian Volleyball Schools Cup

Vanessa Chen – Member of Division 1 Championship Team

In December 2023, six teams went to Gold Coast to represent our school in the Australian Volleyball Schools Cup Championship. The Gold Coast trip was a journey full of excitement, challenges, and personal growth for all of us. As a member of the year eight girls team, winning the gold medal and remaining undefeated was an achievement that filled us with immense pride. It was a testament to our hard work, dedication, and the strong bond we developed as a team.

Throughout the tournament, we faced tough opponents that pushed us to our limits. Each match was a learning opportunity, allowing us to improve our skills, strategise and adapt in different game scenarios. We learned the importance of effective communication, teamwork, and trust in achieving success on the court. Especially in our grand final game against a strong New South Wales team who we managed to beat 2-1 with our hard work and dedication. The support we received from our coaches, parents and teammates were also very important in our success. Their encouragement and belief in our abilities motivated us to give our best in every game. We also learned the significance of perseverance and resilience, especially during the challenging moments when the outcome seemed uncertain. This trip was not just about winning medal and games; it was about personal growth and building lasting memories. We learnt so much on and off the court, but mostly, the importance of dedication and hard work.
