Ivanhoe Edge

Ivanhoe Edge Article – Lana Abud-Hime

This year I started in the program Ivanhoe Edge, in which I attend netball training and gym sessions. I chose to do Ivanhoe Edge because I want to expand and better my netball skills as I already play club netball.

The netball coach is a professional netball player and was an ex-Melbourne Vixens player but now plays for the new netball team called the Melbourne Mavericks. The netball sessions occur once a week running from 7am to 7:45 am, and I attend these sessions with girls from various year levels.

In these sessions I learn important moves and positions which enhance my netball skills, thus enabling me to play better on court. The other sessions are the gym sessions which occur three times a week. In these sessions I have an instructor who ensures that I am doing the right thing, as well as iPads that outline the day’s workout. I mostly do weights in the gym but there are other sessions you can do that target speed and agility. I choose not to do those sessions because they start at 6:30am in the morning.

I have gained many skills through Ivanhoe Edge so far and I highly recommend it to others.
