Sport: Junior Girls Football

Hume Runners-Up

Congratulations to our Junior Girls (Year 7-8) Football team who  finished Runner-Up at the Hume Region carnival at the Barr Reserve.

Despite being a very young team (14 of the 22 were Year 7s), they are officially the the 2nd best team across 40+ schools in our region, for the 2nd year in a row.

They lost the Final to the powerful Catholic College Wodoga (6-30), but demolished Sacred Heart College Yarrawonga (63-0).

It was the 4th time this campaign they held their opponent completely scoreless, after doing the same at Upper Hume level in June to Galen College (27-0), Cathedral College (24-0) and Wodonga Middle Years College (89-0).

The freakishly talented Year 8 Mia Simpson was again awarded our Darcy Vescio Best Player Award (named after our famous alumni who became an AFLW star for Carlton). She kicked 5 of our 10 goals despite carrying a knee injury, bravely playing after attending a Physio appointment an hour before the first game.
