From the Principal: Celebrating a Fantastic 109th Athletics Carnival

Celebrating a Fantastic 109th Athletics Carnival

Last Tuesday, we enjoyed a wonderful day of competition, school spirit and personal achievement at our 109th Athletics Carnival. The atmosphere was electric, with students competing fiercely on the track and field, and cheering each other on from the sidelines.

A highlight of the day was the remarkable “family history” moments. Year 8 student Paige-Lee Dummett and Year 10 student Emily Swinburne each claimed Age Group Champion medals, following in the footsteps of their mothers, both champions in the early 1990s. Incredibly, their mums even competed against each other as students.

We also celebrated outstanding performances from our multiple medal winners, including Tom Ford, who equalled the all-time record of eight total Age Group medals, and Milly O’Kane, who achieved the rare Athletics-Swimming “Slam” for the third consecutive year. Many other students added their names to our Honour Boards, with some already on track for future records.

Congratulations to all our event winners, who now qualify for the Upper Hume stage in Albury on Thursday 11 September, along with the top four 100m runners in each relay team.

A huge thank you to all staff, especially Sandy Newman and Jud Mullins, for their planning and leadership. Special thanks to Jud for his work in developing our new Sport History section, where updated results and Honour Boards can be viewed and downloaded from our website.

Anthony Chisholm Featured on Triple J Unearthed

Congratulations to Year 11 student Anthony Chisholm, whose original song She’s Leaving Tonight was recently featured on Triple J’s Unearthed High program. Anthony writes, produces, and performs his own music, blending R&B, pop, and indie influences.

Being selected for national airplay is a huge achievement and an exciting step in Anthony’s musical journey. We are proud to celebrate his success and look forward to seeing what he does next.
