What an incredible personal challenge it was for our 2025 ACC Cross Country Team, to run in races with a huge number of competitors.
There were 70 schools spread across the start line with six competitors in each school. It is quite a spectacle watching over 400 students taking off from the start and it can be quite intimidating knowing that your race is coming up next. It is a big thing to run in a race that size.
It puts you out of your comfort zone, but the team overcame their nerves and took on the personal challenge. Events and experiences like this help us to grow. By extending ourselves we gain mental toughness, and the team should feel proud of how well they all did and were outstanding ambassadors of the school.
The certainly found their “brave” on the day! It is a big achievement representing your school and many thanks to all students, and the parents, that came along to experience such an amazing event.
Fieke Potter's run:
Incredibly, U/14 girl Fieke Potter won her race out of 434 competitors running 3km in just 9:12.96. Fieke was about 15m in front of the 2nd place runner only about 300m into the race. Her speed and tenacity out of the starting blocks is just something else to watch!
Fieke’s determination and skill makes her an athlete to be reckoned with, and she has a very bright future in not only running but also in swimming. On behalf of the School, I would like to congratulate Fieke, and her family, on her outstanding ACC Cross Country achievement.
