Phase 1 of the Interhouse Readers' Royale has wrapped up, with plenty of last-minute submissions flooding in as students rushed to earn crucial points for their house. The final tally revealed a tight race – especially between Lincoln and Mandela House, whose scores were separated by just 569 points. That is the equivalent of only two or three books and highlights just how close the competition is as we head into the next phase.
Congratulations to Gandhi House, who took out the top spot with an impressive 13,546 points. Lincoln House secured second with 11,679, narrowly edging out Mandela House on 11,110. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed – it’s been fantastic to see so many students getting involved.
Phase 2 of the IHRR will take place during Book Week (Week 8), just a fortnight away. The top three readers from each house will represent their team in a lunchtime showdown held in the library. With Gandhi leading the pack, they’ll enter Phase 2 with a slight advantage – but the advantage won’t guarantee a win!
We’re also incredibly excited for Book Week 2025. We will have activities and prizes running throughout the week, and we’d love to see some new faces come celebrate with us. And of course, the Book Week Dress Up is back. We can’t wait to see you bring your favourite characters to life in what promises to be another fantastic celebration of all things literary.
