Written by Sarah Grenfell on behalf of the leadership team

Welcome Back to Term Two, Week Two!

It is with great joy and enthusiasm that we welcome you back after the term break!  As autumn settles in, it brings with it crisp mornings, falling leaves, and renewed opportunities for learning and connection.

We are excited to embark on another term filled with curiosity, growth, and achievement, and we look forward to working in partnership with you to support your child’s learning journey.

Saltwater P–9 students support the RCH Good Friday Appeal with the Werribee Fire Brigade

On Good Friday, our Year 7-9 student leaders had the privilege of joining the Werribee Fire Brigade – CFA to collect much needed funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

Our students showed exceptional responsibility and leadership, as they dedicated the first day of their holidays to this very worthy cause, which raises funds for vital care and equipment at the Royal Children’s Hospital. Their perseverance and dedication were truly inspiring.

In their morning of collecting, Saltwater raised a total of $3,918.95. This total, in conjunction with the money raised from our primary casual clothes and odd socks fundraiser on the last day of term, took Saltwater's grand total to $5,018.95 raised for the 2026 Good Friday Appeal with the Werribee CFA.

We sincerely thank our school community for the support and congratulate all the Year 7-9 students, parents and staff who generously donated their time to participate in the collection, in particular, Mrs Goegan, Mr Peterson, Ms Grenfell, Ms Morrison, Ms Vines, Ms Colling, Mr Haeusler, Ms Hagos, Ms Clark.

ANZAC Day Commemoration

On Friday, 24th April, our school community came together for a moving and respectful ANZAC Day service. Students gathered within their classes and year levels to remember and honour the Australian and New Zealand soldiers who landed at Gallipoli in 1915, and the many service men and women who have served, and continue to serve, our nations.

Our students created beautiful wreaths, listened to The Ode and The Last Post, and observed a minute of silence to reflect and pay their respects. Some students also shared powerful poems inspired by the ANZAC legacy. The ceremony prompted meaningful classroom discussions around courage, sacrifice, and the importance of remembrance.

We were also fortunate to have Hugo Gibson’s father, Michael, visit our school to share his experiences in the Navy. He spoke about the importance of ANZAC Day and how to show respect during commemorations. We sincerely appreciate him taking the time to speak with our students.

Lest We Forget.

Outstanding Achievement in Chess!

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the success of five of our talented Saltwater P-9 College students who competed in the Northern Star Chess Primary Open Zonal on 24th April.

Congratulations to the following students who took out the prestigious Kryal Castle  Chess Shield!

  • Nivaan Nema,

  • Sai Sivesh

  • Balaji,

  • William Luan,

  • Max Luan,

  • Aidan Bashiri

In an impressive display of strategy, focus, and teamwork, our students triumphed over the reigning champions, Ballarat Clarendon College, who brought a strong and experienced team to the competition.

This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the students’ dedication and skill in chess. We are so proud of you all!
