Year 5/6 News

We hope you had a lovely long weekend!
Last week, our Year 5 and 6 students participated in two engaging programs at the Victorian Space Science Education Centre.
In Expedition to the M.A.R.S. Base, students took on the roles of astronauts and mission control, monitoring systems, solving real-time problems and completing hands-on science tasks. The immersive experience required teamwork, communication and critical thinking, with students demonstrating impressive collaboration and teamwork.
The second program focused on the scale of our solar system. Using flags, number lines and an 8-metre model of the Sun, students explored planetary sizes and orbital distances while applying mathematical concepts such as multiplication, ratios and spatial reasoning.
Both programs provided rich, hands-on learning experiences that strengthened students’ science and maths skills while inspiring curiosity and wonder about space.
As faith-filled people, 5/6MC attended Mass where students represented our class with reverence and respect. They participated beautifully in the prayers, singing and responses. We are very proud of the way they demonstrated our school values.
Just a reminder that Home Learning will be due this Friday. The answer sheet is attached please take some time to go through and correct the work with your child.
