Student Voice & Agency

Co-Creating Our Class Agreements

Over the past few weeks, all classes have taken part in developing their Class Agreements - a shared set of expectations co-created by students and teachers.

Rather than simply being given a list of classroom rules, students were actively involved in shaping what a positive, productive learning environment looks like, sounds like and feels like. These agreements are aligned with our school values of Excellence, Respect and Responsibility, and reflect a shared commitment to high expectations and supportive classroom culture.

Co-creating these agreements is an important part of building student voice and agency. When students contribute to the expectations of their classroom, they are more likely to understand them, take ownership of them and uphold them. This process also strengthens relationships between teachers and students, creating clarity and consistency from the beginning of the year.

Teachers will regularly refer to these co-created agreements in their classrooms to communicate expectations and reinforce positive learning behaviours, helping to maximise the learning growth of all students.

All Class Agreements have been posted to individual class Newsfeeds on Compass, where families are invited to view them. We encourage parents and guardians to take a few moments to read through the agreement with their child and discuss how we can work together to support their learning this year.
