A Fantastic Start for Our Year 7's!

What a wonderful beginning to the year it has been for our Year 7 students as they embark on their secondary school journey. The transition from primary to secondary school is a significant milestone and we are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, resilience and eagerness to learn demonstrated by our newest students.

Our transition program has played an important role in helping students settle in smoothly. From day one, they have been busy meeting their teachers, forming connections with classmates and familiarising themselves with their new learning environment. Receiving lockers and mastering combination locks proved easier for some than others! Through a range of activities designed to build connection and confidence, students have quickly developed friendships and a strong sense of belonging within our school community. They have also been learning to navigate Compass and use their devices effectively to support their learning, with their growing independence and confidence already evident.

A standout highlight of the term was the Year 7 Camp to Phillip Island. This action-packed experience encouraged students to step outside their comfort zones, strengthen friendships and participate in a wide range of activities, including bike riding, mini golf, archery, swimming and the giant swing. Evenings were just as memorable, featuring a beach walk, running races along the sand and a fiercely contested trivia competition. Throughout the camp, students demonstrated impressive teamwork, resilience and encouragement of one another.

The camp experience began with a lunch stop at San Remo, where students enjoyed the sea breeze before heading to The Nobbies Reserve to take in the stunning clifftop views. Once settled at camp, students eagerly immersed themselves in the many activities on offer, with something to suit every interest. The evening beach walk and trivia night provided plenty of laughter and friendly competition in a lively and supportive atmosphere.

Beyond the activities themselves, camp was about challenging personal boundaries, supporting peers and building friendships that will continue long after the trip. We were extremely impressed by the enthusiasm, resilience and camaraderie shown by our Year 7 students and are very proud of the way they embraced every opportunity.
