Intermediate Volleyball

Year 9 and 10 students headed to the Dandenong State Volleyball Centre on Tuesday 3rd March for an exciting day of competition. Our College was proudly represented by six teams, including three girls teams, two boys teams and one mixed team.

Across the day, students played extremely well and demonstrated teamwork, good sportsmanship and determination on the court. It was great to see three of our teams progress through to the finals, with the second Boys team finishing the day undefeated, which was a fantastic achievement.

Throughout the tournament, students showed significant improvement in their volleyball skills, communication and on-court collaboration as they supported and encouraged one another in every match.

Coach Emma shared, “Izzy and I found that our team played a really strong first game with great communication, although they were not as confident at the start. As the day went on, we saw their confidence grow and their skills develop, whether that was working together as a team or improving their volleyball skills such as serving well and hitting more strongly over the net.”

Coach Dylan added, “The first Year 9 and 10 Girls team showed a lot of fight and spirit in the volleyball competition on Tuesday. They came up against some strong teams with plenty of volleyball experience, but their dedication and school spirit never wavered. Our best performance was against Rowville 1’s, who despite being the top team, we gave them a real run for their money with some very close sets before time ran out. The girls represented the school with great pride and effort all day.”

Team member Tim reflected, “My team played very well for interschool volleyball. We won 3 of our 5 matches and I could see that after each game the team was improving and working better together.”
