Message from Principal Sarah

From Sarah Nightingale, Principal

Welcome back to school following the recent Curriculum Day and public holiday.

Curriculum Day

Our staff made excellent use of the Curriculum Day, engaging in professional learning and unpacking the planning element of teaching in the VTLM 2.0.

Following the morning session, staff engaged in moderation of assessment pieces and progression points for the upcoming student reports. Student reports will be shared with families on Friday 26th June via Compass.

School Review

This week, on Tuesday, we had the final day of our School Review. The School Improvement Team had an opportunity to gather feedback from the panel and work together to set the School Strategic Plan (SSP) for the next four years. We look forward to sharing our direction with the school community once the SSP is ready for publication.

Student Achievement

On the long weekend, I travelled to Sydney to watch the stage performance of The Lion King. The production was truly spectacular, showcasing incredible artistry, music, and storytelling.

It was especially rewarding to witness one of our students from NMPS, Myarissa, perform in the show with such confidence and professionalism. After the show, I was able to join Myarissa and her family for a backstage tour where she showed me some of the props she uses and how she knows where to stand on the stage throughout the performance.

Myarissa sends her best to everyone at NMPS and says ‘hello’ to the Year 4 students and teachers, and we send our congratulations to Myarissa on this outstanding accomplishment and wish her all the best for the rest of the tour.

Winter is here

Now that Winter has arrived, please ensure your child is appropriately dressed for the colder days. Students have time outside at recess and lunch each day (rain dependent), which might mean additional layers of clothing are needed to keep warm.

While we encourage those extra pieces of clothing for outdoors, please remind students that outer wear such as beanies and jackets are to be taken off when in classrooms. For this reason, we encourage families to name all clothing belongings. Please also check our lost property racks if you are missing any items of clothing.
