Lovely Learning in Year 4
Writing
In Writing, students have been writing convict letters. Using descriptive writing techniques such as similes, metaphors and ‘Show, Don’t Tell’, students were able to write incredibly rich pieces describing the daily life of a First Fleet convict.
Reading
During Reconciliation Week, students chose different famous Indigenous people and collated fun facts about them and important information. Students enjoyed learning about the adversities they faced, but also how influential they are to Australia and the Indigenous community.

“We learned about different Aboriginal people that are influential. Me and my partner and I researched about Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu, who was a blind musician who sang in his Indigenous language. He even played for the Queen of England.” -
Maths
Following our unit of shape, students engaged in a unit on angles. Students had so much fun learning how to use a protractor for the first time and learn how to measure a range of angles. Acute? Right Angle? Obtuse? Reflex? So many angles to measure!
By Leela 4D
“I liked angles because we got to measure angles on the floor and outside and use protractors which was fun. We learnt the different parts of a protractor, which was a bit tricky, but we were taught which numbers to use and look at to solve the angles!”
