Performing Arts

It’s SHOWTIME! 

It’s getting very busy out here in Performing Arts! All our class performances are underway, and we have some very exciting lessons coming up. 

In our junior year levels, students have been very keen to ‘get into character’ and start working on their costumes and rehearsals. In Foundation we have been ‘cooking up’ a delicious batch of WOMBAT STEW. From Dingo to Emu, our prep students are busy in their rehearsals. We have also been on the lookout for GUMNUTS to go into our stew, so if students are looking for some at home, please send them my way! 

For our Year 1 and 2 students' THE GRUFFALO characters are taking shape. This week we will start our rehearsals and learn about our dialogue.  Students have been learning about scripts and will begin practising their lines. Some students have requested a copy to come home with to practise, this is awesome! I thank families in advance for supporting their child/ren with this at home.  

Year 3 and 4 students will begin presenting their fairytale themed Little Red Riding Hood ensembles this week. It has been so impressive to see our students take on their roles and prepare for this performance. We also have a handful of students who have taken on a monologue – a solo act! This is incredible!  

Year 5 and 6 students will also begin presenting their monologues this week. This has been a great opportunity for our senior students to ‘step out’ of their comfort zones and work on developing a singular character persona.  I have said it is natural to feel a few nerves before performing, but I encourage our students to see this as a chance to be brave, take a risk, and gain valuable experience. Every performer grows through practice and perseverance, and the greatest achievement is having the courage to step onto the stage and give it a go.
