From the Year 4 Classroom

Literacy: 

We have recently finished reading Storm Boy, a beautiful novel that students thoroughly enjoyed. The story prompted many thoughtful discussions throughout our reading, and students shared a range of insights about the characters, themes, and setting. We are looking forward to watching the film adaptation next week and comparing it with the book. 

Students are also completing their published information reports on the Coorong National Park. Through their research and writing, they have been learning about the unique landscape of this important national park along the South Australian coast. Their reports highlight the area's natural features, diverse wildlife, and environmental significance while developing their information writing skills. We look forward to celebrating their finished work. 

Numeracy 

Students are doing a fantastic job during our times table fluency sessions and are showing great enthusiasm as they build their multiplication skills. This week, we have been focusing on the 4 times table, practising recall strategies to improve speed and accuracy. 

In Mathematics lessons, our focus has been on fractions. Students have been learning to identify and create equivalent fractions, place fractions on a number line, compare fractions, and convert fractions into decimals. 

Art 

Students have been busy working on their Coorong dioramas, and there are some amazing creations taking shape! It has been wonderful to see their creativity and artistic skills on display as they bring the unique landscape of the Coorong to life. We will be doing a gallery walk together so students can share their work and enjoy looking at all the fantastic pieces created by their classmates. We're very proud of the effort and care that has gone into these projects.
