Principal's Report

NAPLAN
Congratulations to our year 3 and 5 students for completing the NAPLAN tests over the past couple of weeks. Despite interruptions to the year 5 writing test (which was an issue in many schools) our students continued to impress us by putting in their best efforts throughout the testing period.
Cross Country
Last week we all enjoyed a great day of running and cheering at the Lancefield Park. The P-2s were super impressive, running laps of what really is a very big oval whilst the 3-6s dug in and ran much larger laps of the park. Whilst running certainly isn't necessarily everyone's favourite sport, absolutely everyone gave it a great go and there were many exhausted students back at school on Friday afternoon. Thank you to Meagan for organising a great event and we now look forward to sending a large group of year 3-6 to the district cross country at Hanging Rock coming up in term 2.
Cookie Dough fundraising
Our fundraiser for term 1 has been an fabulous success. We sold 530 tubs of Cookie Dough which has raised over $2000 for the school and our students. The pick up day will be Wednesday 1st of April and we will keep you updated with times and the process for collecting your tubs and prizes. Thank you everyone for supporting this fundraising effort and a big thank you to extended family, friends and work colleagues for supporting LPS too. The only opportunity to collect tubs will be on the 1st of April so please keep this in mind.
Lunch Orders
Don't forget that starting term 2 we will be using Flexi Schools for lunch orders from the Lancefield Bakery delivered on Fridays to school. Please make yourselves familir with this new process, see all the infomation you need further in this newsletter.
End of term arrangements
The end of term 1 finishes on Wednesday 1st April for all students. Thursday 2nd of April is a staff curriculum day and Friday 3rd of April is Good Friday. Term 2 resumes on Monday 20th of April.
Recommend holiday listening and reading for parents and carers:
Two books I have just finished and would recommend for holiday reading-
Fiction - by Isabel Allende "In the midst of winter" and by Elle Luna- Non Fiction "The Crossroads of Should and Must - find and follow your passion" - this is a great easy read with some thoughtful activities to complete along the way - highly recommend
If you have time and are a fan of podcasts when perhaps walking, running, gardening, I can recommend the following -
The Imperfects podcast - Nov 10 2025 - Dr Emily " Am I sick or is it anxiety"?
If you are a fan of Amy Poehler " Good Hang" is a fun light hearted podcast with a range of great guests.
Enjoy your term 1 break, stay safe and enjoy time with your families.
