Gandhi House

A massive thank you and congratulations to our incredible students who made up the Gandhi Battle of the Bands performers for 2024. It was incredible to watch 12 immensely talented and passionate Gandhi students shine on stage in our performance of an ABBA mash-up of Super Trouper and Gimme Gimme Gimme. Thank you to these students for their time and efforts for this amazing show and congratulations to Lincoln for taking out the win!

I would also like to thank two of our Gandhi staff in Mr Alex Hanssen and Mr Derek Cumpsty for their expertise and support of Gandhi’s Battle of the Bands performance.

This brings us to the end of the major House events for 2024 with just our Term 4 House Week remaining. As we head towards the pointy end of the year’s House Shield, it is still a very close competition.

We need all hands on deck in Term Four to try bring home the win! If you have House Tokens at home please do bring them into school to fill the Gandhi Jar as we are super keen to take out the House Shield.

Lincoln House

It has been a great week for Lincoln House, as we come off a win in Battle of the Bands! And for the second year.

The Lincoln Band played wonderfully on the night, and I am so proud of their efforts. The lunchtime, recess and after-school rehearsals paid off and showed a wonderful commitment to the House. I look forward to the continued efforts of our Year 7- 11 students.

I would like to thank Gandhi and Mandela for always being awesome competitors.

I would like to especially mention, Sadie (Lincoln House Captain), Kiera and Will our Year 12 students who played strong roles in this event. This was their last House event before graduation, and I am so pleased they could finish with a win. Their dedication to the House over the years has been instrumental in its identity.I wish them all the very best for the future. With very few events left now in the year, it is important to lock in as many House points as possible. So, search your pencil cases, bags and pockets for those House points and get them in the Lincoln Jar before the end of term!

Mandela House

Well done to all Mandela students who performed in the Mandela Band at the Interhouse Battle of the Bands competition last week. Unfortunately, Mandela did not win but it was so good to see the amount of dedication and time that went into performing from a large array of students in the House. We are truly lucky to have such great students at St George’s. In hindsight, maybe Hotel California may have been a bit too ambitious. Congratulations to Lincoln on the well-deserved win, and Gandhi for your great piece. Congratulations to the following Mandela students who did us proud;

Stella Bain, Zac Balding, Abby Brewer, Alec Farrell, Lawson Forrester, Zuri Hawkins, Hunter Hills, Alisha Hoang, Zara Jones, Chelsy Mison, Finn Turner, Lily Turner-Field, and Alison White.

At the end of this term - 20 September - Mandela is hosting our Charity Day Talent Show Event. We as a House will be raising money for Anglicare WA, which will go toward helping their numerous outreach programs for people in need. Students (and teachers) have been working incredibly hard to practice their routines to perform in front of the whole school. We can’t wait to see it. There will be food to buy on the day which will be operated and run by our Mandela PCGs. Students are to please bring a gold coin donation which will be collected at the front door.
