Naima received the exciting news of being selected for the Australian Girls Choir. Her hard work and passion for singing have paid off and she is thrilled to set off on a tour to Queensland from September 30 to October 12. A wonderful opportunity. Congratulations Naima.
Lucas continues to go above and beyond in his part-time role roasting coffee next door to the school at the Game City cafe.
Teachers on the Sleepout on the Roof were impressed to see Lucas accompany the café owner to St George’s on Friday night – as Darmesh spoke about his observations around homelessness, including a pay-it-forward coffee scheme. Lucas helped to run an activity “in such a professional manner’’ and was very giving of his time to the Service-Learning event.
Late last month Fieke travelled to Melbourne to compete in the School Sport Australia National Championship Cross-Country. It was a 3km course with hills, mud and a strong wind blowing through the Yarra Valley, where the competition was held.
Fieke placed 12th overall against runners from South Australia, Victoria, NSW, ACT, Queensland and WA.The following day, in a well-organised tour, all students visited the Healesville Sanctuary to learn about the native animals of Australia.
The last day of the trip was “relay day’’, in which Fieke competed in a 5 x 1500m relay. WA fought hard to go home with a bronze medal.
Fieke’s mum, Marije, told The Dragon: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank St George’s for the possibility to take time off school and the chance given to Fieke to be able to compete and be able to create this awesome memory. Thanks!’’
