Congratulations to all students who represented St George’s at the ACC G-Div Athletics Carnival. A lot of you achieved placements in your events and your support of each other is truly commendable!
St George’s had a large team of 81 students travel to the State Athletics Track, on Monday 2 September, to compete in the ACC G-Division Athletics Carnival. Every student gave their utmost on the field and track, but the division proved too strong for us this year and although we came last it was pleasing to see the team give it their all right thorough to the Relays. Thank you to those students who also stepped up to fill events when others became overwhelmed or faced injuries.
Fieke Potter was outstanding at the carnival and earned herself Runner-up Champion U/13 Girl. Her grit and determination were most noticeable from the very first 1500m race where she pipped the lead runner right on the finishing line through her incredible tenacity to win that race. Congratulations on your success at the event, Fieke.
Thank you very much to Miss Sadie Yoxall who supported the team at their weekly training sessions at UWA SportsPark, and for her guidance in getting athletes to their events on the Carnival Day. Also, to Miss Amy Perejmibida, Mr Conrad Sloan and the many parent and student officials who assisted in the implementation of the events. ACC always have a multitude of duties that need to be filled by each of the competing schools’ and without your support these events would simple not run as smoothly as they do.
That concludes St George’s major sporting carnivals for the year. In Term Four, we have the Swimming WA Secondary Schools’ Open Water Swim at Coogee Beach.
The PE Department has been busy getting ready for Health Week, which is next week, Week 9, 9 to 13 September. There will be quizzes, Year 10 Health Booths at lunchtime and a pickleball tournament on our recreational roof top. We will also be linking it in with “RUOK? Day”, so be ready to collect freebies and join into the activities highlighting wellbeing and feeling top of your game
